Debby was born and raised in Orange County, California.
Debby attended the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving her BA in History and Political Science, and then returned to Costa Mesa to attend Whittier Law School for her JD, taking the California bar exam in July 2011.
She is fluent in both Vietnamese and English [native in both languages].
She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, and Los Angeles County Bar Association. At Whittier Law School, she received the Dean’s Merit Scholarship, was President of the Vietnamese American Student Bar Association, and was also a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Fraternity.
Debby previously worked as an extern/law clerk for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office – DNA Unit, researching DNA issues pertaining to the 4th amendment, criminal procedure, and relevant case law. She also volunteered her time at the Southeast Asian Legal Outreach Program under the Public Law Center.
Upon graduating law school, she traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia, Russia, Eastern and Western Europe, expanding her world view. She is still an avid traveler to this day.
